Calzoncelli
Calzoncelli are one of the oldest sweets of the Apulian tradition, originating in the Monti Dauni but more generally in the province of Foggia, have spread throughout the region. They’re getting ready for Christmas.
The Apulia Region has included them in the PAT (Traditional Agri-food Products).
They generally have the shape of a candy, externally they are made of shortcrust pastry but the filling varies depending on the recipes that change from area to area: in some cases it is made of chestnuts, honey and sugar; in other preparations it is made of bitter cocoa, cinnamon and chopped almonds. Once ready, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
