The wheat of the dead or "Cicc-Cutt" (as it is called in the dialect of some villages) or muscitaglia is a sweet preparation, typical of the Dauni Mountains that is cooked on the occasion of the commemoration of the deceased.
The procedure is simple: you leave the wheat to soak overnight and the next morning you rinse and drain. Then you pour a pot, covered with plenty of cold water that must cover it completely. It boils and is cooked for at least an hour.
After the time necessary, it is cooled and drained.
Apart from the pomegranates, dark chocolate, nuts and cinnamon. This sweet mix, which is nothing more than the symbols of the autumn season, will be mixed with cooked wheat.
The last ingredient is the vincotto that must be sprinkled to finish on the already portioned cicc cutt.
