Information
The woods of Sant'Agata are suitable for excursions and pleasant walks. The Bosco Lagarelle consists mainly of broad-leaved trees and sometimes coniferous trees. The area is surrounded by a mosaic of pastures and shrubs and is crossed by the Rio Speca. In spring here you can admire the early blooms of the primrose, scylla, anemone and the rarest snowdrop, and the later ones of the wild lily and many orchids.
The panoramic road that leads to Accadia (SP 101) partly crosses the beautiful Serbaroli Forest. Kingdom of wild boar, foxes, badgers and wolves. Inside the forest there are three ponds, ideal habitat for amphibians and places for drinking animals.
In the direction of Bastia Nuova and on the right side of the Torrente Frugno there is the Bosco Cesine, on the homonymous hill: an interesting mixed wooded area of broad-leaved trees, mostly oaks, a wreck of a much wider area.
Near the village, on a mountain divided at the top into two rounded peaks, is the Bosco di Monte Croce. The name comes from a cross placed on the summit at the beginning of the twentieth century: with the appeal of Leo XIII, in Italy were designated 19 mountains on which to place a cross in memory of the 19 centuries of Redemption. Unfortunately, part of its natural heritage, consisting of reafforestation of conifers and Aleppo pines, was destroyed in a fire in 2017.
