The sacred building was erected in 1200 in Apulian Romanesque style, annexing the oldest Church of Santa Maria, whose traces are still visible in the apse.
Considerably altered over the centuries, the Church has returned to its former glory, thanks to a restoration that has returned the two-tone decoration of the facade, raised above the overlooking road plan which is connected by staircase. The facade of the church is composed of stones of different colors, arranged alternately or to compose geometries, in one case a cross.
To the left of the main body and in a secluded position rises a beautiful bell tower, which houses three bronze bells attributed to the workshop of Avignon.
The interior is divided into three naves, separated by simple columns with capitals with floral motifs, which define sober and austere spaces, where they find shelter the polychrome high altar with marble frontal of '700, two gilded tempera of the Neapolitan school of the sixteenth century depicting Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the statue of the Virgin of the Rosary, the altarpieces of Saint Philip Neri, the Virgin and Saints Biagio, Dominic, and Luke, a beautiful organ and the wooden choir carved baroque style.
