Information
Originally the Church dedicated to the Madonna del Carmine was annexed to the convent of the Jesuit Fathers, founded in 1605 by Bishop Toulouse. When the Jesuit College was decommissioned in 1636, they were succeeded by the Discalced Carmelites. The exterior of the building is characterized by the presence of a beautiful bell tower in neoclassical style with two floors, with parades and angular columns of the Tuscanic order; the crowning is instead a Doric trabeation. The interior of the church is amazing for the richness of the stucco decorations. It houses the eighteenth-century paintings depicting Saint Teresa of Avila and Saint Mary Magdalene, as well as the Madonna of Mercy, attributed to the Bovinese painter Michele Lombardi.
