The sacred building, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, was built between 1754 and 1768 and was initially dedicated to Sant'Antonio Abate.
The church is characterized by its imposing mass that dominates much of the historic center, connoting itself as the main architectural emergency of the village, along with the nearby castle.
The first thing that strikes the viewer is the imposing baroque facade in clear stone, made alive by the alteration of solids and voids, the presence of curved and oblique lines, the breakdown made by pilasters and pilasters superimposed and staggered; at the center of it insists a sumptuous portal.
On the outside you can not, moreover, stop to observe on the left side the beautiful sixteenth-century bell tower, which was built at the service of a pre-existing Church of which there is no longer trace; the bell tower ends with a majolica cusp dome of the seventeenth century.
The interior, of a white and late Baroque, follows the breakdown of the facade with a Latin cross plan divided into three naves. The central nave, higher than the side, is supported by climbing arches; the entire longitudinal body is illuminated by large windows and embellished by the precious altars attributed to Cimafonte ( left altar of San Pasquale, Madonna del Cardellino and Our Lady of Sorrows; right altar of Santa Filomena, Madonna del Rosario and Sant' Antonio Abate).
The central nave has cross vaults, decorated with scenes from the Old Testament and, at the intersection with the transept, determines the drum, decorated with stucco representing the four Evangelists, surmounted by the dome and the lantern; The arms of the transept are occupied by two altars in honor of Saint Anthony Abbot and Our Lady of Sorrows.
The church also houses a remarkable table of the sixteenth century depicting the Madonna del Cardellino, a wonderful eighteenth-century organ and a beautiful black walnut choir located behind the high altar and the statue Ecce Homo by Brudaglio.
