Information
The building, on the edge of the medieval core of the village, was purchased, adapted to worship and consecrated at the end of the 19th century. The new church became necessary due to the development of the Congregation of the Third Franciscan Order, founded in 1870 and based until 1898 in the Badiale Church.
The best view of the building is offered by the terrace overlooking Largo Ariella, which frames the facade of the small church, with behind the most recent urban extension of Volturino and the view in the distance of Motta Montecorvino. The church has an exposed stone facade with clean lines, embellished by a small stone portal, raised from the road level through some steps; it overlooks the entrance through a minute rose window. The hut roof is topped by a bell tower. The interior, linear as the exterior, houses an ancient marble altar and some statues of Saint Francis, Saint Joseph and Saint Peter the Apostle, in addition to the ancient banner of the Confraternity of the Rosary worked with gold and silver embroidery and the two effigies of the Virgin.
