Information
The monastery was built in 1417 by the Knights of Malta and was later granted to the Dominican friars who stayed there until 1809, the year of the suppression of monastic orders by decree of Joachim Murat.
The church was leaning against the walls and on the left side of the same opened one of the gates of the ancient city, also called San Giovanni and no longer existing. Inside the garden of the Convent, today inhabited by the Daughters of Our Lady Sisters at Mount Calvary, you can admire the remains of the medieval walls and some of the towers in it. The church is characterized by a sober façade and a single nave interior, while the monastery is divided around a two-storey cloister.
