The white Renaissance facade is bordered by pilasters and has an interesting fastigio tympani with broken volute and in the center the coat of arms of Candela. The portal is classicheggiante (1601) and is surmounted by a tympanum with at the center the Virgin of Purification ; on the sides of the arch angelic images with symbols of passion, below the tapered columns, two plinths with bas-relief images of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. On the side stands a massive bell tower in Romanesque style on which rests a small tower with a clock.
The vault of the central nave is embellished by the fresco "Presentation of Jesus in the Temple of Jerusalem'' by Antonio La Picciarella in 1891. Of great historical and artistic interest are the wooden statue of Santa Maria "said of Candela'' of the fourteenth century, the baptismal font dating back to 1590 and the wooden walnut choir made in the seventeenth century, which are represented stories from the New Testament. Also interesting is the chapel of the Sacred Heart where there is a beautiful eighteenth-century altar made of polychrome marble and a painting of the Last Supper.
