Information
Not to be confused with the beautiful cross called "of Freedom" that rises in front of Palazzo Trombetti. Built in local stone and built in 1558, when the King of Naples, Philip II, made administrative autonomy in Monteleone with the establishment of the Universitas Bonorum.
The parallelepiped on which it rests bears engraved on one side the coat of arms of the Guevara family, lords of Monteleone, on another side the coat of arms of the municipality and on another side the engraving "Universitas Monteleonis fieri fecit sub a.d. 1588".
The column is fluted and ends with a cross decorated on one side with the image of Christ on the other with that of San Rocco.
