Information
Many of the historic buildings of Orsara di Puglia are only enjoyable from the outside, being privately owned and often inhabited, but always give incredible details: such as the majestic entrance portal of the Baronial Palace or the Fontana Nuova set in the Palace of Princess Solofra (the two palaces are connected by the Arco dei Calatrava); Palazzo Varo instead houses the Library of Community ALI dedicated to musical culture.
The Rione Donna Cecilia is one of the oldest and along its streets overlook Palazzo Terlizzi, the imposing portal and the internal courtyard that still shows the original pavement; the sixteenth-century Palazzo Valentino; but above all Palazzo Alfani Di Stefano on whose facade are engraved a team, a compass, a lead wire and a trowel, symbols of the guild of freemasons. Also in the district of Donna Cecilia stands the noble Palazzo De Gregorio, home to the IAT and the Museo dell'Angelo. On the side of the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie there is the Palazzo Tappi, with its splendid stone portal with volutes and a keystone coat of arms, surmounted by an elegant mullioned window.
