Information
The castle was built by the de' Parisio, masters of the village in the 11th century. The building had the typical structure of the castle with mighty walls and moats all around, but gradually lost the characteristics more distinctly military, turning into a stately residence. It belonged to the Marquises de' Sangro for three centuries and in 1806 it was donated to the diocese. It later became the property of the Trotta family and was sold by them to the municipality in 1937.
Today nothing remains of the ancient defensive structure and the stately palace, occupied by the municipal seat and only partially enjoyable. Nice entrance, with the large atrium and a double flight of stairs leading to the airy balcony. On the vaults of the two main rooms, graceful decorations of the second half of the eighteenth century reproduce mythological scenes that increase the splendor of the ancient dwelling.
