The portals of Sant'Agata are all datable to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and have a certain expressive diversity, but a certain stylistic homogeneity: the noble type is usually composed of a round or lowered arch, framed by semi-columns or pilasters with capitals and bases, which is interrupted on the side uprights mostly with pillars and floral decorations, symbols, heraldic elements and animal figures.
Our itinerary starts from the central Via Teatro, on which stands the imposing and Renaissance Palazzo De Marinis - Calcagno with imposing arched portal round, ashlar pillow in white stone, surmounted by the shield-shaped stone coat of arms of the De Marinis family; while the emblems of the Calcagno family are placed on the side capitals. In the nearby Piazza XX Settembre there is the beautiful Palazzo Capria with a rusticated portal in striped stone with the coat of arms of the Capria family: a goat climbing near a tree with its gaze towards the rising sun. In Via Garibaldi amazes the portal of the beautiful Palazzo Torraca - Rosati, decorated with the repeated pattern of the rose, symbol of the Rosati family, while in key of time appears the coat of arms of the Torraca: a lion that emerges from a tower carved on a crown. On Corso Carmelo Barbato is the Palazzo Vinciguerra, whose entrance portal is enriched by the coat of arms of the family that depicts a hand holding a sword; The nearby Palazzo Barbato has a portal surmounted by a mask with a beard. Palazzo Volpe is located in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, whose coat of arms depicts a fox facing a crowned sun.
