The particular and fascinating geosite was probably a place of sacred rites in honor of the goddess of fertility Hule in pagan times: hence the origin of the name Sant'Hule, later "christianized" Santulinze (probable reference to San Lorenzo).
During the brigandage the concavity and holes present on it, were used by bandits as a unit of measurement to share the spoils of the raids carried out. That’s why it’s also called Brigand’s Stone. The rock is easily scalable and from its summit you can enjoy a beautiful view over the valley below.
