The small church commemorates the miracle of the beneficial water given by Our Lady to the farmer Giuseppe Mastrostefano in 1709. It is said that the man, exhausted by the hard work of the land and thirst on a hot August day, called for the help of Our Lady of the Well, then fainted. Rivenuto noticed that the hoe he had with him, in the fall due to the fainting, had opened a groove in the earth, from which water gushed out. In the following days everyone realized that the water given to the farmer by Our Lady had miraculous powers.
Inside the chapel is kept the beautiful wooden sculpture of the Madonna dating back to the eighteenth century, which is carried in procession to the village, through the fields, on the evening of every August 15, to be brought back to its home on the morning of 26, at the close of the festivities in her honor.
