Information
The tower of Castelluccio is actually an infrastructure of the Apulian Aqueduct. It is an artifact composed of an octagonal tank, raised from the ground by a tower body.
The piezometric tower is located in the city center and serves as a water reserve with the aim of obtaining a pressure in the main pipes. Unlike most of these structures, it has a full turriform body and not a metal lattice, which endows it with a particular charm. Particular attention is paid to its architectural composition. The tower has a two-band plinth, the lower smooth and the second rusticated, interrupted only by the door of access to the artifact, at which there are the only two windows of the building, marking the levels externally. On the plinth and at the edges of the octagon, the angular pilasters of a white colour start throughout the height of the tower, while the walls of the tower are plastered with a pale yellow.
The plan of the tank is partially overhanging with respect to the vertical body below and ends with a pitched roof on the top of which is placed a crown lantern.
